The "Walls to Fall" conference in the atrium of the Allianz Stiftungsforum, Pariser Platz, at the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin, 2 November 2014.
The theme of the conference: "Overcoming the walls in our heads. Germany discovers the value of its social innovators." Organized
by the GENISIS Institute for Social Innovation, as part of events commemorating the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Don’t tell me you don’t feel it, we’ve known it from the start The wall is in your head; the bridge is in your heart It’s everything we came down here to say Where there is a wall, there is a way
No time to call the papers, no time to call the cops They’re running out of headlines, we’re running out of jobs Words are shouted up and down the street Not a single word that we can eat
[Refrain:]
We tear down one, just to find another one We tear down ten while you build them up again The future could be bright enough for all But not while there are walls to fall!
Laws protect the ones who make them, even when they kill I guess it all looks perfect from your castle on the hill But right outside your garden is a world
The bricks that built your mansion can be hurled
"Equality" in poverty, "minorities" of power Maintaining dumb majorities for twenty cents an hour Is this the way you liberate the poor:
You tease them with the life they’re dying for?
[Refrain:]
We tear down one, just to find another one We tear down ten while you build them up again The future could be bright enough for all But not while there are walls to fall!
Walls between the races, walls between the creeds Walls between the people with their identical needs The "We" is so much stronger than the "I"
The things we share should open up the sky
[Refrain:]
We tear down one, just to find another one We tear down ten while you build them up again The future could be bright enough for all But not while there are walls to fall
Not – while – there – are – walls!

Hugh Featherstone and the Feathertones on stage at "Walls to Fall", Berlin, 2 November 2014.
left - right: Kristaps Grasis (bass), Christian Sichert (percussion), Hugh Featherstone (guitars & vocals)
Over the last three decades Christian and Hugh have played together at more gigs in more places than anybody can count. Christian has been a member of Red Shift,
The Tone Poets, The Feathertones and A Panel of Experts, and features on the CDs West of Eden, News from Nowhere, Red Shift, Live at the Chapel and 9 on the sub-prime.
Although Christian is capable of making a lot of interesting noise on stage, offstage he is a very quiet bloke. He is also difficult to photograph as he is
usually surrounded by microphones and an arsenal of percussion instruments.
Rows of candles laid out on Pariser Patz, on the east side of the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin, as a memorial to victims of the war between Russia and the Ukraine.
