Pergamon Acropolis: Steps of the Zeus Altar (180-160 BC). |
| The Great Altar of Zeus was built 180-160 BC by Eumenes II (ruled 197-159 BC). Also known as the Zeus Altar and the Pergamon Altar, it is now in the Pergamon Museum, Berlin (see photos on gallery 2, pages 23-26). All that remains in situ are the foundations and some of the steps which led up to the altar (gallery 1, page 23). |
