The Great Theatre of Ephesus. The upper rows on the south side of the cavea (audience seating area). |
|
Much of the seating has been left in the condition in which it was found by archaeologists, while some sections have been restored or replaced with modern rows so that the theatre can be used for performances in summer. The topmost tiers are fenced off.
In the background (south) is Mount Koressos (Turkish, Bülbül Daği, Nightingale Mountain). |
