This is what you see when you get off the ferry at the main port of Skala. Well, it's just a car park. Not very exciting. However, from here you can find buses to the other larger villages of the island.
Buses to/from Skala ferry port
Hora 7 per day (for the Monastery of Saint John, via the Cave of the Apocalypse)
Groikos 3 per day (via the Cave of the Apocalypse)
Kambos 3 per day

There are usually a few taxis waiting here for the ferries, but they get snapped up very quickly, and you may have to wait half an hour or more for one to return.
If you want to book a taxi, try phoning +30 22470 31225.
Just outside the car park, the building to the right of the domed, whitewashed church is the Orthodox Culture and Information Centre, which provides some tourist information (see below). |

The Orthodox Culture and Information Centre
Directly in front of the ferry port at Skala.
Opening hours: April-October, Daily 9 am - 1 pm and 5 - 9 pm.

There is no official tourist information office on Patmos, but here you can find information, brochures and timetables.
As the name suggests, the centre provides information about the Greek Orthodox Church, the island's churches, chapels and monasteries. There are also multimedia exhibits on the religious heritage of Patmos. |
