The Monastery of Saint John the Theologian
(Η Μονή του Αγίου Ιωάννου του Θεολόγου)
The monastery was founded 1088 by Christodoulos (Ο Όσιος Χριστόδουλος), also known as the Blessed Christodoulos Latrinos of Patmos, an abbot from Nicaea in Bithynia (today İznik, northwestern Turkey), who is thought to have lived around 1020-1093 AD.

| Saint Mocius (Άγιος Μώκιος, Agios Mokios, died 288-295 AD), titled "the Holy Hieromartyr", was a priest in Amphipolis, Macedonia. During the persecution of Christians under Emperor Diocletian (284-305), Mocius attacked the temple of Dionysos and destroyed a statue of the god (or an altar). He was arrested by the Roman authorities and executed in Byzantium (later Constantinople, now Istanbul), where Emperor Constantine later dedicated a church to him. His feast day is on 11th May. |
