The south wall, which stretches across the width of Liotopi peninsula (see map), is 2 metres thick, and some sections are still up to 4 metres high. The ground in front of wall at this point is steeply sloped, which would have made it even more difficult to attack.

This is the part of the wall at the south side of the acropolis enclosure, one of the sections built using the "Egyptian" technique of layers of large stones interspersed by stacked smaller flat stones, separated by courses of large flat stones.
