Stageira's 2 metre thick southern defensive wall, built around 500 BC, crosses the entire Liotopi pensinsula, rising from the north and south coasts, and passing the highest point of the city at the acropolis.
About a third of the way from the acropolis down to the sea are the remains of one of the square towers on which a wooden viewing platform has been built. |
