The 15th century Orta Camii mosque hidden among the houses in the centre of Veria. |

The 15th century Orta Camii is hidden among the houses in the narrow streets of Veria. Only its distinctive minaret indicates its location. Behind the mosque is a green open space through which a footpath has been formed by people taking a short cut to the main road (see next page).
Most of the houses around are modern, gradually replacing older buildings, but preserving the lines of the ancient streets. |
