This fragment of a simple limestone relief depicts a row of warriors, armed with spears and square shields, who appear deceptively charming.

Unlike similar ancient reliefs discovered on the Lycian mainland of Turkey (see photo below), the fragment does not bear an inscription in the Lycian alphabet.

Finds of such ancient Lycian artefacts are very rare and the archaeological exploration of Lycia is still in its infancy.
